During the 1960s, Kitsilano’s proximity to beaches and abundance of greenspaces welcomed the young generation who brought a hip vibe and relaxed lifestyle. Kitsilano is one of Vancouver’s most preferred neighbourhoods.  Known for its beaches, parks and community, the area is bordered by the shores of the English Bay to the north and by West 16th Ave to the south. Burrard Street to the east leads onto the iconic Art Deco style Burrard Bridge which offers an easy 20 minute stroll or bike to downtown. With vibrant commercial areas located along West 4th Avenue and West Broadway. Kitsilano has an abundance of restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops and its stores offer trendy fashion along with outdoor wear, home decor, and yoga gear. 

Kitsilano has no shortage of activities and events. From having summer fun at Kits waterfront pool, to biking or strolling along the seawall which stretches from the food and craft markets at Granville Island and travels east along the beaches and past the Jericho Sailing Club, there is an activity choice to suit everyone. Events to enjoy are plentiful, including the Childrens Festival at Kits Beach. Bard on the Beach theatre performance, the Celebration of Lights summer fireworks display and cultural events such as Greek Days by Vancouver’s Greek community on West Broadway. Kitsilano is also home to Vancouver’s Maritime Museum and the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre.
